Choosing the best type of nappy for you and your baby can be difficult at first. You are probably overwhelmed by the many different choices there are on the market today, and may not understand how the different systems work.

Mamaduck only sells nappies that have been tried and tested by us, and we recommend them to be both totally reliable and easy to use.

We sell 2 types of nappy - '2 part nappy systems' and 'pocket nappies'.

Here is a brief overview of how each one works :

2 part nappy system      eg           (motherease nappy & wrap)

As the name suggests, there are 2 parts to purchase - an absorbant nappy and an outer cover (commonly called a 'wrap'). The nappies we sell are all shaped nappies and fasten easily with aplix/velcro or poppers. They are made of fabrics like cotton and bamboo. Additional boosters can be purchased with some to add to the level of absorbancy. The wraps we sell are waterproof, they fasten onto the baby on top of the nappy and keep the wetness off clothes.

The advantages of a 2 part system is that you do not usually have to change the wrap each time you do a nappy change. The absorbant nappy bit you do, but the wrap can be used again, perhaps 4/5 times, unless it is soiled. So you don't need as many wraps as you do nappies. A rough guide would be around 20 nappies and 4 wraps, if you are happy to wash every other day.

Pocket nappies             eg     (wonderoos pocket nappy)

A pocket nappy has a built in pocket, in which some absorbant material can be placed (commonly called an insert). The nappy has a waterproof layer built into it and the outer cover is all attached. In effect once the absorbant insert has been placed into the pocket, the nappy acts like an all in one.

The advantage of this type of nappy are that they are very easy to use as once the pocket is stuffed, there is only one part to fasten onto the baby. However all the nappy needs changing at every nappy change.
